Ely Restaurant

Ely Wine Bar at 22 Ely Place was founded 18 years ago by Erik and Michelle Robson They opened their doors in December 1999 originally offering 100 wines by the glass, including champagnes, sherries and ports and were visionary in changing the way in which wine was sold in Ireland. Passionate about wine and always respectful of its traditions and culture, today Ely boasts over 500 wines by bottle, 100 wines by the glass along with an extensive range of craft beer, whiskeys, gins and cocktails.

Fuelled by the success of Ely Place, Erik and Michelle were keen to continue growing and expanding their business. In 2006, this led them to expanding their market share into CHQ in Dublin’s financial district, where they saw a once in a lifetime opportunity to grow their business into Ireland’s oldest wine venue which is located within beautifully restored 1821 wine vaults, in the IFSC.

In need of capital to finance the refurbishing of the premises – including a new kitchen and a new bar area that resulted in a rebrand to ELY BAR & GRILL – Michelle and Erik were in need of fast, flexible funding and that lead them to Capitalflow.

Michelle Robson, Owner of Ely said “Capitaflow took the time to get to know the business, our business model and our expansion plans, and they liked what they saw – a thriving business, with a great reputation. We have great future plans for expansion across the country and will achieve it with Captialflow as our preferred funder.”

Ronan Horgan, CEO of Capitalflow said “We were delighted to get the opportunity to sit down and spend a lot of time with Michelle and Erik to get to know their business and to understand their plans and ambitions for their business growth. We saw the huge potential in Ely and we are excited and honoured to be a part of the companies growth.”
